Trey's introduction to music began with piano lessons at the age of six. By the age of twelve he had changed to guitar. At fifteen he was accepted to the Governor's School for the Performing Arts where he began his education in jazz. He graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University as a Jazz Studies Major. As a composer, Trey has written numerous works in the jazz, classical, and rock/pop styles, and also writes music for film and advertising. Trey has performed with jazz artists such as Doug Richard's GAME, Jon Faddis, Steve Wilson, and Alvester Garnett. He has been a member of numerous bands including The Devil's Workshop Big Band, Brian Jones Double Guitar Quartet, Bungalo 6, Taylor Barnett's 10-tet, Rex Richardson's X-Ray Rextet, the Dean Fields Band, and Modern Groove Syndicate.
