Electric and Upright Bass
Cameron began playing and studying the electric bass when he was 15 years old and has been actively pursuing it ever since. It wasn't until college where he began studying jazz and classical upright bass, that he decided music would be his life's work. Since graduating from the University of Virginia in 2002, Cameron has toured nationally with various groups, including Richmond's own infamous salsa band, Bio Ritmo. He currently performs locally, regionally, nationally and internationally with several creative bands and ensembles including ILAD, Fight the Big Bull, Glows in the Dark, Os Magrelos, Beleza Brazil and Ombak. Cameron also maintains a very active freelancing career, and you can often catch him performing around Central Virginia with many of the area's top jazz musicians. As a lover and lifelong student of music, Cameron's musical interests and abilities are not limited to genre. Equally comfortable playing Rock, Jazz, Avant-Garde/Experimental, Reggae, Soul, Funk, Blues, Brazilian, Salsa, etc. One of his greatest strengths as a teacher is his drive to expose younger students to all of the great music in the world that they otherwise may not get a chance to hear. Cameron has been actively teaching for the past 6 years, and he teaches all levels of upright and electric bass as well as beginner guitar.
