Leah is a classical and flamenco guitarist and is currently pursuing her Bachelors of
Music in Classical Guitar Performance at Virginia Commonwealth University.
In addition to classical and flamenco guitar, Leah teaches folk, bluegrass, fingerstyle, and worship music. Leah has experience working with children
and is happy to teach beginners of all ages. Leah's first instrument was the alto saxophone, which she played throughout middle and high school. She has also sung in university and church choirs, such as University Singers (U of VA), the Innsbruck University Choir, and the Innsbruck Cathedral Choir (Innsbruck, Austria). After graduating with Highest Distinction from the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Biology, Leah decided to pursue guitar at VCU. Leah performs regularly with the VCU Guitar Ensemble, the Richmond Community Guitar Ensemble, and the VCU Guitar Quartet. She performs solo classical and flamenco guitar in VCU concerts and recitals, as well as at private events in the Richmond area. Leah is also the Student Minister for Worship at Grace and Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, where she coordinates the music and plays guitar for the 5 pm service. At VCU, Leah has received the Jesus Silva Scholarship, the Friends of Music Scholarship, and the VCU Transfer Scholarship. In Summer 2007, she received a VCU Summer Studies Grant to study flamenco guitar at the Albuquerque Flamenco Festival. Leah has performed in master classes led by guitarists William Kanengeiser, Ana Vidovic, and Steven Aron. |
